A check-in app for students living away from home

Moving out for university, sharing a house, or spending a year abroad on Erasmus+ or the Turing Scheme. Y.O.D.O. is a check-in service: you confirm you are fine on a rhythm you set, and if that confirmation does not arrive, the people you named are asked to get in touch.

    The short answer

Going quiet for a few days is normal at university, which is exactly why nobody notices the week it is not. Y.O.D.O. gives your family one signal instead of a running conversation. There is no location tracking, no hardware, and no one checking up on you. Only whether you checked in.

It is not tracking, and that distinction is the point

Y.O.D.O. has no location feature of any kind. It does not know where you are, who you are with, or what you are doing. Your Delegates see one thing: whether you checked in, and when. That is what makes it usable by someone who would never accept a location-sharing app, which is most students.

One check-in after a flight, instead of six messages

Landed, back from a trip, home for the holidays. A single check-in updates everyone at once, because your Delegates see your last check-in in the app. Nobody has to be messaged separately and you are not answering the same question six times.

It travels, because there is nothing to carry

An exchange semester, a placement year, a summer working abroad. Y.O.D.O. is not tied to a country, a phone network or a campus, and there is no device to pack. The service is run from the UK and data is hosted in the EEA.
